Since we are now on Skrull watch, this is the second week that Marvel is letting us down with not much
too follow-up Secret Invasion #1. Last week we had nothing, at least this week we get Captain Marvel #5 (of 5) but the final part of the Captain Marvel story will finish up in a one-shot, Secret Invasion: Who do you trust?
I think Annihilation Conquest might be tied into the Secret Invasion but I am not positive. We will find out when the books arrive in a few hours.
Countdown to Final Crisis has two more issues to save the series and I personally don’t think that DC is going to pull it off. If Countdown does not WOW! some readers this will definitely be “bad new bears” for the next DC weekly series.
If anyone was worried that they were going to change the formula in Incredible Hercules, I am happy to say they are staying with the status quo. Hercules is still drink beer and arguing with family members, this time with his sister Athena. Ares
is a little busy since Herc made him eat a missile.
Superman #675 has a beautiful Alex Ross cover to celebrate the milestone.
It’s an oversized spectacular blowout action anniversary issue, as Kurt Busiek, gearing up for his insanely huge next project, brings his Superman run to a close! A three-way battle between Superman, Paragon and the forces of Daxam! The Earth-shattering threat of the all-new Galactic Golem! –Diamond Previews
With that being said the cover is still really cool. I think DC really needs to rethink what they are doing with Superman. If you have looked at how Marvel and DC have revamped dead or boring characters, they do in by focusing on the main character and supporting characters and making you care about them. I know this is crazy talk, but if they killed Lois or Jimmy and it was Superman’s fault people would care. That is what made the second crisis compelling. Earth-Two Superman was trying to save Lois and when she died he snapped
just like a regular person would. But it was about the redemption of the character that is important. In the end he sacrifices him self to save others.
