The Hollywood Reporter recently published a big article detailing how Sony’s deal with Marvel on Spider-Man came to be. It’s full of great information, but includes a detail that is either a typo or a big announcement that wasn’t supposed to be made.
Toward the middle of the article, when Venom is mentioned, the author includes that Carnage will be included in the movie.
“As for the expansion plans, Tom Hardy is starring in Venom, dated for Oct. 5, 2018, which will also feature the villain Carnage.”
THR is a well respected outlet, and I doubt that they’d lazily throw in such a big piece of news if it weren’t true.
