Artist Alley Project on Indiegogo

Our Story

Matthew Sardo created Comic Vault: News & Opinion in August of 2011. Matt wanted to continue the tradition of community that he built-up with the brick and mortar Comic Vault and transfer it to the digital-age of the comic book industry. In a few short months we have grown our staff (family) and our web presence. Our focus is clear, create a bond between creators and their fans. If you’re a creator, the Comic Vault wants to know what you’re working and how we can help you promote it. If you’re a fan, we want to know what you like and help you discover new talent.

ARTIST ALLEY: the mission

To help fans connect with creators-established, undiscovered and everywhere in between.
To expose artists to their eager fan base and provide them with networking opportunities.
To promote the interest of art and comics.
Each creator will be given their own personalized webpage with an introduction video that will give fans an insight into who you are. The webpage will also contain a bio, contact information, where to buy their work and a gallery of work.

Each webpage will be categorized by region and state. The Comic Vault’s hope is that this leads to fans connecting with local creators.

The Impact

Our main goal is to create a bond between creators and fans. With the virtual “ARTIST ALLEY” our aim is to start the fan/creator bond before you meet at a convention and to help the fans and creators nurture that bond after the convention.

Over time the virtual “ARTIST ALLEY” will be more than just a website for fans to connect with creators, it will become a tool of inspiration and guidance. Every creator video will add a bit of knowledge about the trials and tribulations of comic book industry.

There are no guarantees, but we’re going to promote the crap out this website. You never know who will see your work and when. This website will create added exposure for creators and the rest is up to you.

What We Need & What You Get

Click for a list of perks!

The Comic Vault will promote “ARTIST ALLEY” at conventions throughout the United States. A portion of the money donated will go towards all the costs associated with attending a convention, booth rental, promotional material and staffing.

The Comic Vault will discover new talent by attending as many conventions as possible, big and especial small conventions. We are very passionate about this project but discovering talent requires time and gas money.

The Comic Vault will strive to bring you the best multi media storytelling currently out there. This will happen through great quality interviews, photographs and a compelling biography on all the creators. We currently have 90% of the items needed to carry this out, but a few items are needed to give you the best experience possible.

I would love to pay the writers on our website. We have a great group of writers that know their craft, work really hard and deserve a thank you.

Web design and maintenance, it doesn’t cost a lot but it does cost money to host and run a website. Also, with the ever-changing technology our current website will need to be updated

Other costs include M&M’s.

A 20-something trapped in the body of a 30-something describes me perfectly. I have taken ownership of my dorkdom and launched it to a whole new level with my love of comic books, movies, hockey, scotch, mashed potatoes and Chicago.
