Remember when the Legion of Doom would capture the Super Friends and take over the world with their flying Hall of Doom, or when Skeletor would finally capture Castle Grayskull and tell the sorceress to go scratch? I am the kid who would happily turn off the television at that point and go outside to play. I have loved super villains, supervillainy and hidden skull-shaped fortresses all my life. I can still remember being 9 years old and watching Darth Vader step through a that spaceship door and thinking “I want to be this guy every Halloween for the rest of my life.”
Since I have been enthralled with Star Wars for some odd 30 years, no one was more disappointed in the prequels than I was, however I found a way to drown them out by reading every Star Wars novel (yes, even “The Courtship of Princess Leia”) that I can find – so far that’s about 235 books. I started in June of 2011 and I will be posting reviews of previous book series plus all the new ones I read as I finish them.
A certain host over at The Soup on E! aired the trailer for the next half-season of “Community” on NBC. It looks like the writers of “Community” are throwing everything they have at these episodes, because it could be their last. NBC put “Community” on hiatus last fall and looked to be canceled. Someone over at NBC has a soft spot for well written television and gave the show another chance.
“Community” stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong and Chevy Chase.
Beavis and Butt-Head was back on MTV Thursday night with the première of their first episode since 1997.
Beavis and Butt-Head was a main stay of MTV in the 90s. The show outraged parents and learned about the Great Corn-Holeyo. Beavis and Butt-Head also put Mike Judge in the Hollywood spot light. “Office Space” and “Idiocracy” would not be possible without the success of Beavis and Butt-Head.
With that said it has been 14 years since Beavis and Butt-Head had a new episode. Would it still be funny or relevent? Is it wrong that a 34-year-old man was laughing his face off last night?
If you have grown up watching MTV you have noticed that they have stopped playing videos and have started making more shows, with not all of them of any quality. A funny thing happens when you make bad television, you give Bevis and Butt-Head tons of material.
It is awesome that Beavis has watched every season of Sixteen and Pregnant. Butt-Head torched almost everyone on the Jersey Shore.
The première brought back a lot fun from the 90s and the show makes fun of all the annoying parts of today. Mike Judge continues to be a voice of a generation. Is generation X making a come back?
